A most precious meeting today with Pat Witt who is truly a special artist. She shares humor and Timeless qualities with her students and anyone she meets.Jeff the editor of NJ news and musician friend just published a quote a few days ago from her show in it I said that Pat always has something that you could learn from so I asked a question about process and painting that was technical.Pat asked me to come up and sit beside her and I had the and show her sketches from the 70s and notes and paintings from her Sketch Book! While sharing them with the audience she was answering my question how she approached this strong show of new work!In telling me how to go back to being a four year old as she had done along with all of her maturity and years of experience! This gift to me was truly unexpected and a testament to a master painter! Pats work is now showing at the Riverfront Arts Center gallery in Milleville and is a must see. This is a truly masterful painter who provided such fresh inspiration and beauty in her new work for this show. The strength simplicity and economy of effort is truly extraordinary! The talk was so beneficial for anyone lucky to show up.. Some of the funny things she said "dare to be lousy", she stressed and non-competitive comfortable working environment for her students at the barn studio .Pat mentioned that TV was a bad thing years ago and now computers and cellphones taking the world away from us and limiting our ability to observe as it is and be. It was also funny when someone asked her how long she was a non-profit and she said they have always been a non-profit! I want everyone to know of this great painter in South Jersey.
