My traveling and painting trip with my cat and RV was a true adventure! Every day was a true wonder traveling through the Vermont landscape and most of all the privilege of receiving an award for a month residency in the most rich and beautiful autumn I have ever seen! Come see the new paintings from this precious opportunity (and they are all for sale) here at the Atlantic city arts garage and studio! "Autumn in Vermont " I am so grateful for participating in this painting residency for the month of October and the new work it produced was inspired by the rich colors of the Vermont fall landscape.
Art personalizes and humanizes the place where we live and work
Art revives lifeless interiors homes as well as businesses and transforms them into unique, beautiful and engaging enviornments.
The artwork designed for my projects often include original works of art ,mixed media work, and gicle graphics and murals. With many of the healing arts programs and offices,my artwork is photographed then brought into photo shop. I then rebuild the image in such a way as to use it to paint and draw onto fine art media. I have hand printed my own editions of my art in lithography silkscreen and etching. When I use my large format printer I approach printmaking the same way.I choose a medium of highest quality and one that will take on a mixed media process that includes pastels, acrylic glaze and museum grade coatings. The techniques allow both luminosity of color and texture,so the color and surface resonate and adjust to the changing light. A collection of paintings are chosen then consistently printed and embellished. With fine art paper the texture of the surface takes on dry pastels then coatings of acrylic are put over the drawing. After the layers of color are applied a finished coating is then applied to protect the art from fading and to sharpen it.
The art is then shipped rolled or flat after dried and sent to the project manager or gallerist. Please take a look at my work and projects at Steve Kuzma .com
A large 6 ft painting "Space Odyssey" by Steve Kuzma was donated and presented in a permanent collection at the Cherokee high school library, Marlton NJ on February 12th.The painting is quite moving to see well before cell phones, computers and digital technology. The painting was completed in the Cherokee high school art room in 1978. In this work Steve coveys a sense of expanse and movement indicative of his later work in his illustration and career. When standing before this acrylic painting one is drawn into the silence of dark expanse of matte black and gloss glazes then the emergence dynamic and bright solar bursts of color that are painted with heavy textures of color engaging the viewer into a kinetic space.Painting can do that eternally unlike film or digital media. The work adorns the wall of the library with his classmate Diane Spellman's Summer Joy an oil that is in a free form contemporary style.
When I entered the building there was much security and regimentation that did not exist when we attended Cherokee in the 70's. We were given a tour of our school through halls we walked through and memories then walked to the library where the painting were presented.
I have the good fortune in being active in many local art shows and venues that bring the local community and friends together. I participated in the winter holiday show at the Ventnor cultural arts center. While setting up I can feel the peace and sunlight in the air outside while the gentle sound of the surf broke in the distance. I have panted many seascapes here of the ocean in its many moods.
The art show setting of the library by the ocean quickly came to life, with many artists, setting up their work in a festive holiday setting at the library. My friends Bonnie and Jose began with a angelic and inspiring holiday set of music. The band, "Even Betta" surprised many with their harmony-filled musical experience. The day just kept getting better with vocalist Susan ( former Miss NJ ) featuring a selection of joyous spirit-filled young singers, preceding their scheduled event, the AC Christmas parade.
Fellowship goes hand in hand in any community event such as this. The collective efforts, of all involved, are greatly appreciated and just left me with a sense of fulfillment about sharing my day at this event, with thanks and gratitude to my fellow artists, customers and all who have attended this show! experience
This exhibit is of Steve Kuzmas' work at the Claridge Stockton gallery in Atlantic city.It is in a 20,000 square foot space and consists iof over one hundred paintings.Steve also is showing work in his space at the wave Arts- Garage in AC.
I am honored to donate a large painting to Cherokee High School this month. It is a large 4'x 8' acrylic painted in the Cherokee art department in the new building in 1977.It was a new school with new friends and new beginnings. The painting has a sense of space movement, awakening and expanse. It was a time without cellphones and less complicated. The school was surrounded by peach farms. The school property was donated by a Quaker who received it from the Indians who lived there. The landscape had a sense of harmony and timeless nature.I am happy to donate this most special art to inspire others to see the work we have done and message we are communicating.Diane Spellman my dear classmate and exceptional fine artist has also donated her painting as part of this most happy and special gathering of friends at the 40th Cherokee reunion at the Medford country club!

I am a man who has dedicated his life to achieving excellence as an artist. I was born in Philadelphia and attended Central High School's Alternative Arts Program in 1974. I took my career path as an artist seriously by furthering my education by completing my BFA in Illustration at the Parsons School of Design in New York and the New School in 1982. My post-graduate education continued after receiving the Brunschwig & Fils Scholarship, also in 1982. This allowed me to study abroad at Parsons and at The American College both in Paris, France and Sienna, Italy.
With a spirit of courage, perseverance and determination I developed a lifelike painting technique that conveys dynamic motion. The essence, of movement and composition are distilled in bright color fields in a contemporary, impressionistic American style.
My work continued in the field of Illustration. Many of my pieces were published in books, magazines and large projects. My sports illustration work began in New York in the 1980’s. I produced work for the following clients and campaigns: 1985 The New York Times (New York Marathon), Sport Monday, 1986 TIME, 1985 Harper Collins (Illustrations for the children’s book “Sports Pages” featured on Reading Rainbow), 1986 Sarajevo Olympics, (PR campaign illustrator) 1986 World Cup Soccer for Spanish International Television(entire design“Look” for the event program consisting of 13 soccer paintings and cover poster), Art Direction magazine, 1986 Backpacker, 1985 Boating and 2002 New Hampshire magazine spreads. My paintings were shown on ABC coverage of the 1986 Olympics in the Olympic Village art show in Sarajevo and on tennis, on CBS with commissioned work for an NFL program. Many of these works were painted with acrylic on paper, with colorful glowing backgrounds and delineated musculature showing the essence of movement in unique composition.
All of my images convey a positive message. In florals, there is joy. In landscapes and seascapes, there is a feeling of openness or expansion of consciousness. In sports related and mystical paintings, there is the dignity and nobility of the human spirit.
The projects required a comprehensive knowledge of painting and design on many levels. This is reflected in my work for the World Cup soccer 1986 Mexico campaign for Spanish International television. As a young illustrator, I was chosen by Spanish Television over a of selection of mature artists including Peter Max to take on the entire look , design, which included 13 paintings, which flow through a large program book. These illustrations with their colorfully painted luminous layers gave life to the printed page. This was a highly prolific time in my career and growth as an artist.

As a young artist in New York I had the dream of someday showing the scope of my artwork in the Guggenheim Museum, especially the spiritually inspired large oils. I believe in the transformational process as I believe it in myself and to share that from the artist to the viewer. My work as an artist comes from a place of clarity, simplicity, study, and meditation.
Through painting, I aspire to relate to the viewer and share a positive influence and connection. My background as an artist trained at Parsons School of Design in New York, working within the American contemporary impressionist style. I developed a growing connection to nature and profoundly inspired by beauty. This love and appreciation of nature, coupled with deeply spiritual art, form the foundation of a unique style and sublime message. A strong sense of color and a free-flowing painterly method blend with a masterful use of layering techniques, to provide the depth and dimension inherent to all of my paintings.
In my creative process, I maximize the amount of information and inspiration in the simplest way. Painting becomes an answer to a prayer, or a solution for a creative problem. With the guidance of meditation, the painting documents my full artistic and spiritual process and leaves grace behind for the viewer to imbibe freely.
I propose a series of 4 foot by 8 foot and 4 foot by 12 foot oil paintings. The oils are experienced in human scale in them imbedded life inspired qualities in a harmonic dialogue of color to the viewer. “Satsang” means company of Truth. The carefully painted works are sensitive to convey a visual spiritual discourse through each individual painting and as a group viewed in a large room. At best this is a spiritual conversation through the visual language of.painting and color that is embedded with divine aspiration. Because of their scale they interact directly with the person standing in front of them and the goal is to leave the viewer restored in their humanity and connectedness. It will convey qualities of fellowship, mercy, compassion, joy, gratitude and the appreciation for life. Our humanity, divinity and unity for life is a shared vision by enlightened saints and mystics throughout time is a sincere expression from the artist as it resonates its truth and meaning from within and without. When working on an illustration deadline I often prayed a positive message would come through it so much so that I learned the importance of listening for the best solution. I practiced the art of meditation to help and subsequently studied under mystic poet param sant Darshan singh in India. I had the good fortune of illustrating the cover of his book “Wonders of Inner Space”. I feel blessed to share in his vision and inspiration. Below examples are a few inspired quotes and teachings by mystic poet saint sant Darshan. They will be used for inspiration and contemplation for the paintings I propose.
“Heart to heart soul to soul that is the true meaning coming and going is not even an encounter”
“I seek a world of enmity and peace and in which each is valued for their uniqueness and merit. Life itself is restless for this dream of peace to be realized”
“When the flowers of the church temple and mosque gather together Spring will blossom in your garden oh Lord”

The recently completed comprehensive Exhibition at the Noyes Claridge art gallery in Atlantic city. The collection consists of over a hundred paintings of my career in painting (including work painted from the top of the world trade towers). It fills 20,000 square feet of beautiful gallery space. This show still continues and required much effort to prepare in an area that arts are not well supported. Adversity and the challenges of the time may have interrupted my efforts, yet the dream to do this work continues. I cannot think of a better time to pursue this painting goal and share its message of hope than now. I cannot think of a better reason for painting.
Sincerely submitted,

When I started my career as an illustrator out of Parsons years ago the connection of drawing and painting to the anatomy and composition of dynamic movement in sports that I participated in played a great part in my career as an artist.Early on my sport illustrations were used by magazines ,including football and soccer magazine covers and children's book called "Sports Pages". Sport magazine had an article about my approach to the subject of sport art called art beyond Neiman.Color fields and expansive clean color were used to get the feeling and energy of the sport and movement.
Soccer illustrations were designed into the program book with the copy for the Mexico games!
And yes it is true I was picked over all of the artists submitted one of them was Peter Max whom they turned down over my work.As a young hot NY illustrator at 24 I was well trained and worked very hard with my sports style with vibrant color drawing that depicted the essence of a figure in motion.
A happy Autumn invite to the gallery at the Artsgarage Atlantic city and to see new work.I have been also focusing on mixed media paintings framed and modestly priced.

My whole life I have painted and hiked the mountains in NY state. The pristine air and clean water transforms me every time I am there.
In summer I show my art in galleries and have had one person shows at the Lake placid center for the Arts and the Olympic Museum. One of my favorite shows is in the beautiful Keene valley at the end of August!
The inspiration of the mountains higher altitude, tall pines and spring fed lakes inspire the appreciation of nature and many paintings.
Please see some of them painted on the location in this restorative place on my website at Steve Kuzma .com and Artofkuzma.
I feel the contribution of my art and music is to share this beauty! On the website one can find panoramas of large works of art over 12ft wide taking years to complete as well as quick watercolors painted on location and in all weather conditions! I have become particularly fond of the beautiful string of lakes from this region and forests. I invite you to see this work under blue mountain lake in progress.
This year I am planning to do the Keene valley show again and the rustic show at the Adirondack museum at Blue mountain Lake.
The show at the Claridge in Atlantic city features art from Steve s illustration career in New York to the present. The show has a series of paintings of the New York skyline including a few painted from the world trade towers, empire state building that include the towers downtown, statue of liberty ,tugboats and many others.Come out to see this 20,000 square foot space of this work!

I just completed seven large murals, including the interior design of a golf clubhouse re-purposed into a drug treatment center, also a bus station converted into a large detox center for Enlightened Solutions.
Enlightened Solutions is a foundation dedicated to helping those struggling with addiction. Although the work is physically and emotionally demanding, it is most fulfilling to see the results.
The golf course and club houses were transformed into beautiful treatment centers that are include the natural surroundings and spa-like. The interiors and murals are expansive, a few measuring 100 ft. long. The beautiful inspired paintings create a space that provide a nurturing aesthetic atmosphere for the residents. Art work was designed and staged for housing converted to help addiction treatment residents here in Atlantic City, My hope is that the healthy atmosphere can help affect change for people coming out of this experience a growing problem in this area. Please look at the murals for the transformed walls and buildings at The Hansen Foundation on my website.
The color and design of the building is treated much like a painting cosidering how light moves throughout the building this helps in bridging the outside and inside creating an aesthetic space conducive to recovery, and the healing process and all that work there.I especially appreciating working with the Hansen family and Bob Kumika ,the contractor for all of the projects!

Maximizing the amount of information and inspiration in the simplest way, with the guidance of meditation, the painting documents my full artistic and spiritual process and leaves grace behind for the viewer to imbibe freely.

A large exhibition is planned January 9, 2018 and running through February 26th at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ showcasing the work of Steve Kuzma. The collection will shed some light on Kuzma’s early illustration career in NY, recent residencies including a Jackson Pollock Award, Joan Mitchel Foundation, Gotleib and New York Foundation for the Arts, and healing art work for AtlantiCare, the Carrier Clinc, and Enlightened Solutions addiction recovery buildings.
The scope of local work includes large panoramas, seascapes (many painted on location), landscapes in a very beautiful and large exhibition space at the Claridge Hotel gallery.
The exhibition reception will be on February 18th and continue through February 26th. There will be a schedule of weekly demonstrations and presentations free to the public. This show is inspiring art students, artists and non-artists to see as it documents some of his artistic journey and career.
Steve Kuzma studied at the Philadelphia College of Art and Parsons The New School of Design in New York City. He graduated with honors from Parsons and was awarded fellowships to study overseas in Sienna, Italy and Paris, France. During his 12-year New York City illustration career, art directors were particularly fond of his work as it incorporated a strong sense of color and motion, reflecting Steve’s strong interest in sports and his great love of the outdoors. The New York Times, New York Marathon, and Sport Monday commissioned his artwork and it has been featured in numerous publications including: Harper Collins “Sports Pages” (children book featured on Reading Rainbow) Sport Magazine, Time, Art Direction Magazine, Backpacker, and Boating. Steve’s work has been used internationally to most notably commemorate the Olympics and the 1986 World Cup Soccer events.
In his extensive travels overseas and throughout the continental United States, Steve has developed a growing connection to nature and is profoundly inspired by beauty. This love and appreciation of nature, coupled with his deeply spiritual art, form the foundation of his unique style and sublime message. A strong sense of color and a free-flowing painterly method blend with a masterful use of layering techniques, to provide the depth and dimension inherent to all of his paintings.
Steve works professionally in the areas of illustration, graphic design and advertising. He further accepts commissions and creates murals. Often sought after to lecture on his experimental painting techniques, he conducts various workshops and teaches. Active in many art organizations, Steve continues to show in both group and solo exhibitions. He is represented in permanent private, corporate and museum collections. Steve maintains studios in Somers Point and at the Noyes Arts Garage in Atlantic City,

I have painted on location in national parks across the country and exhibited this work ,As a child I started camping and hiking 3 months out of the year as a Ukrainian boy scout. We would have many different camp experiences. Many facets of the wilderness were explored in the camps some were a month on an island with only a canoe and tent, some in the forest weeks at a time, as well as in winter(often three weeks starting at age 7),as well as parts of the Appalachian trail starting at that age. This grew to hiking and painting journals on location and doing residencies (with a Jackson Pollock grant at Byrdliffe colony), and extensive hiking and painting in the Adirondack region,Please look at artofkuzma website,This love and appreciation of nature, coupled with his deeply spiritual art, form the foundation of his unique style and sublime message. I try to distill the essence of a region with the media. It takes time and much tuning in and receptivity. Often I am inspired to say something in the work that reminds one of the greater Nature appreciating and being sensitive to it.
A strong sense of color and a free-flowing painterly method blend with a masterful use of layering techniques, provide depth and dimension inherent to the paintings.
Check out my newest work! A lot of time and dedication was put into creating the right vibe in a setting where new lives begin and hope is found. I'd like to thank Enlightened Solutions for allowing me the opportunity to be take part in this much needed game-changer to our community.

A most precious meeting today with Pat Witt who is truly a special artist. She shares humor and Timeless qualities with her students and anyone she meets.Jeff the editor of NJ news and musician friend just published a quote a few days ago from her show in it I said that Pat always has something that you could learn from so I asked a question about process and painting that was technical.Pat asked me to come up and sit beside her and I had the and show her sketches from the 70s and notes and paintings from her Sketch Book! While sharing them with the audience she was answering my question how she approached this strong show of new work!In telling me how to go back to being a four year old as she had done along with all of her maturity and years of experience! This gift to me was truly unexpected and a testament to a master painter! Pats work is now showing at the Riverfront Arts Center gallery in Milleville and is a must see. This is a truly masterful painter who provided such fresh inspiration and beauty in her new work for this show. The strength simplicity and economy of effort is truly extraordinary! The talk was so beneficial for anyone lucky to show up.. Some of the funny things she said "dare to be lousy", she stressed and non-competitive comfortable working environment for her students at the barn studio .Pat mentioned that TV was a bad thing years ago and now computers and cellphones taking the world away from us and limiting our ability to observe as it is and be. It was also funny when someone asked her how long she was a non-profit and she said they have always been a non-profit! I want everyone to know of this great painter in South Jersey.
When in Maine I used to drive up into Acadia Park and park my 96 Ford station wagon onto the rocks and paint the beautiful sunset of the park late into the evening. I think Pat the work I did and then went back into the station wagon driving down the road of the park into the lower elevation towards Bar Harbor. I would often take hikes into the national parks and then be inspired to paint a series of paintings mostly watercolors with water mixable oils and pastels. Please look under Maine section of my website artofkuzma or Steve Kuzma.
I also enjoy skiing and once painted on the mountain itself at Vail overlooking the mountains at sunset. Often times there is some Adventure that follows
The ski patrol waved right on man as the sun ,temperature and light dramatically decreased. Please look at Colorado winter for some of the paintings.
once in the Adirondack Mountains heavy storms are coming in while I was working on a 15-foot panorama. I had to put all the way art inside the 96 station wagon and drive into the forest to take cover while tree limbs were falling and winds were increasing. After a long night of wind and rain sleeping or not sleeping in a tent I would often wake up to a beautiful morning wear I would regroup my work and start again often this work was redone in the studio and I would finish a series of work that would try to distill the essence of a particular region that I traveled in.Please check Adironadack region for a sample of this work.
In Brigantine I was asked by CEO Don Parker to paint the wind farms. I chose the location off of the old Brigantine Bridge there were many mosquitoes and marshes but after a few hours Foundation of a beautiful painting took three years to complete was finished..
Some of my most memorable were painting from the top of the world trade towers in NY when attending a landscape class with Emily Ellman at the Parsons school of Design. Please check the Steve Kuzma artofkuzma website under New York.
best wishes Steve
I am starting the wall today at the new detox center with the Hansen Foundation. I waited to start this building for a long time while the building was being gutted and modified from bus depot and office space to a new detox center for addiction recovery.I ,Bob the contractor and Jenn Hanson ,who started the foundation chose the color flow for the building. This is a very careful and important consideration. This can bring out the design and resonate to a higher vibration for the purpose and function of the space and mood of the rooms. The entrance has warm colors and lighting, with a calming complimetary pallette. It will have a mural wall on the staircase ,elevator, and yoga room. The mural walls have a highly layered base painted in a wet in wet technique. The walls humanize the space.Mr. Hanson was inspecting the building before I started.and really appreciated the the work going into it"Its all about helping people ,we're doing this to help people! That's a great start for my inspiration today. The building color and art and give a dignity and aesthetic and provide a clean healthy environment that is calming. The Hansen house foundation new detox center is located on rt 322 (former Atlantic City Boatyard) near Atlantic city.

here is a sorts football illustration done for CBS in the 80.s originally backpacker illustration on back country skiing ,open illustration designs were used to work well with body copy,as part of the article in a good design flow using lots of life motion and color
I stand in front of the sea I remember new ideas . My aspirations are renewed when I am close to her. This is the time of year i remember all of the things that are good at the waters edge .To be by the ocean for a short time renews and replenishes my energy. The fresh air and wind are welcoming and forgiving of any burden I carry ,and even more so if i jump in no matter what the water or air temperature.
I do the Keene valley art show every year .It is a long drive for me although quite pleasant once I am set up in the beautiful Keene valley surrounded by mountains .The trip allows me also to paint there and enjoy the lakes! There can be challenges with a two day outdoor show like wind and weather, all in all I sell a few originals and prints to help me paint and stay there for a few days.I am left uplifted and intoxicated from the mountains and lakes only after a few days there.I enjoy swimming in the envigorating water and walk in the clean forests. This is what I want to convey in my artwork!I feel we are increasingly out of touch with the simple gifts nature can show us.
I highly recommend the hairport in lake placid for a haircut and the green goddess health food store for nourishment !!
I with the help of my dear companion Catherine painted a series of wind turbines near Atlantic city. The paintings took a few years to complete and is painted in pastels and water based media at 40"x50" . In Brigantine I was asked by CEO Don Parker to paint the wind farms. I chose the location off of the old Brigantine Bridge there were many mosquitoes and marshes but after a few hours Foundation of a beautiful painting took three years to complete was finished..
I have started to choose the color for this building .My approach to this is much like a painting or work of art in choosing a frequency and resonance of color harmonies .This process is often requiring much editing and back and forth .The building is part of a network of care provided through the Hanson foundation for addiction recovery that was greatly lacking in the AC area.
this one of many murals painted in a home near Moorestown NJ.The painting ties in the entire design of the home. Layered techniques are used reflect the light differently through the day and in the change of light seasonally! They allow much more light and expand the walls and entire area .Although it is very demanding and requires much effort The results are fulfilling often choose artwork for the space or home and paint adjoining rooms.
This is a most special day commemorating the work and importance of peace in our lives, focusing on the peace pilgrim.Peace pilgrim walked 25,000 miles for and with peace and living it.
Theses paintings are painted in the Manhattan area. They include paintings from the top of the world trade towers, the empire state building, and many area parks and briiges.
This show is a unique experience for me as in the midst of the inspiring Adirondack mountains in the beautiful Keene Valley NY.
The mountains are surrounding Marcy Field airstrip where artisans set up their work.I have an opportunity to paint and enjoy the lakes and forests while there. This year I had the good fortune of playing music as well with my friends Victor and Steve during the show. The clarity of the fresh mountain air and lakes are wonderful to experience. It is an area that has preserved its natural beauty and renews me just being in the forest a few days! Please visit my website to see some of the work reflecting this most special place. Most of the artwork was started on location, then finished in the studio after travels.
I have just returned from showing in the Keene valley and setting up the music there .I have painted the beautiful Adirondack region and hiking it for years.I am happy to show work that focuses on the appreciation and connection to nature and how to live symbiotically. My original music is for both adult and children with my violin and guitar I play professionally and regularly.I have won a Jackson Pollock award , Gotleib ,and Joan Mitchel award for my work.I teach workshops demonstrating one on one teaching the techniques used in painting outdoors.
I simply am absorbed in the beauty of the region and want to share that vision.
best regards,Steve .
Steve is a recognized illustrator and fine artist who has painted the local NJ shore area, national parks and has traveled abroad extensively. Recent projects have involved designing art for healing arts programs with many area hospitals and most recently, the entire reconstruction of the Carrier Clinic. His designs and artwork focus on bringing life and nature into
living and work space reflecting our positive connectivity and harmony.
Originals Murals, and large format mixed media printing are offered in highest quality and affordability
They are all diverse in nature from designing interiors balancing the elements wood, stone, earth water, and light .
The color is mapped out to bring out the design of the building design in the best way.
Consideration is given to how the light and color are reflected and absorbed by natural and interior lighting.
I work from the beginning with a vision concept from the president or CEO then with the general contractor.
I have had the good fortune to work outstanding CEO Don Parker of the Carrier Clinic mental care facility in Skillman NJ for the total overhaul of the buildings. It along with the care were transformed drastically into the future with solar ,green and latest cutting edge construction and design. When I saw the architectural drawings I was moved to a tear to see what changes were going to happen!
I was responsible for designing the artwork for the newly constructed buildings. Many of them were over sized mixed media pieces.I design a collection of art and theme. The process includes original paintings and mixed media graphics on fine art media. The layers include glazes of luminous color with pastels acrylic and wax.
This is a fulfilling process to see come to fruition.Projects often include design, a logo ,murals, art and signage all in one. This saves the client time and money.
Jenn Hanson founder of Enlightened Solutions Hanson Foundation approached me after losing almost everything in hurricane Sandy.
This year a golf course clubhouse was re-purposed as a rehab facility for drug addiction . A system of buildings for Enlightened Solutions and the Hanson foundation were transformed quickly to accommodate patient intake and counseling. This huge building reminds a both environmentally healthy and aesthetic space for all who enter it.
The golf course landscape was also transformed with organic farming bike paths and horses!
The rooms all flow with the entire building within and without like a good painting (This is a by product of starting with studying at a good design school at Parsons along with all of my painting done as an illustrator and fine artist painting in nature). My murals allow the walls to expand or go away and maximize the use of light and color.
The Statue of Liberty painted from trade towers in New York.
This watercolor is part a series of paintings from landscape class at the Parsons school of design in NY in the 80's.We would meet at different locations in the city for Emily Ellmans' class. The view of the statue of liberty from the world trade towers was surreal and sublime.Upon reflection both the subject matter and perspective have meaning today.
This watercolor shows The statue of liberty and small boats as the sun sets.It was painted from the top of the World Trade towers in New York in 1981.The building would sway a bit as our class painted the view.
This was part of a landscape painting class at the Parsons school of design in NY in 1981.
Here below are studies made for a shopping bag design for the art director of the magazine section of the NY Times.I enjoyed working with them as a number of my illustrations were used in The New York Times magazine section,Sports Monday, and the advertising section appearing in full pages regularly in the Times!
this painting a watercolor is painted This view is from the Empire State Building in New York.Note the twilight and streetlights below.
This was part of a landscape painting class at the Parsons school of design in NY in 1981.
This illustration was commissioned by the NY times advertising section in the mid eighties. The project was painted in acrylics for the Times magazine section. The acrylic painting was quite a challenge for the young illustrator recently graduating from the Parsons school of Design,
These illustrations were done in the mid eighties for the new York times advertising section. They were designed originally for a shopping bag for them.I used acrylics on vellum. The originals and prints are available from the artist.
This work was painted on location at the foot of the old Brigantine bridge in view of the ACUA wind farm originally for Don Parker.I began the work in the soft marshes on canvas using watermixable oils and pastels.I and my wife Catherine were under heavy mosquito attack(I am indebted to her for putting up with this). The painting shows a rhythmic movement of the wind in the sky at sunset. It took three years to complete. The sky has complex rose metallic glazes. The original is 48"x 36".The original is for sale and it is available in print from my website Artofkuzma. The painting below depicts the huge scale of the GE turbines at the Atlantic city Utilities Authority.
This is a painting of Lucy the elephant inspired by my dearest friend and love Catherine. The paintings include a night scene painted on a sand based panel on location at night.I used a series of pastel glazes and mediums that result in a luminous portrayal of the large Lucy in Margate NJ..I was also encouraged to do a day version of her.The illustration was painted on location in two 6 hour sittings. It is a watercolor with pastel and watermixable oils.
25'x 8'panorama, Adirondack Meadow, lodge road .
This painting was started on location 8 years ago.It is a very long roll of canvas and an ambitious project. I taught at the Lake Placid center for the arts earlier and decided to start a landscape from a most beautiful view of of lodge rd.the mountains actually turn blue,as one can see the Mt Marcy and a panorama of mountains.A few hours into the work the sky became very ominous .and a storm was approaching the field.I had to pack everything into the 96 ford wagon and take cover as branches fell all round me.I was a hotel or a campsite. So I of course went to my special place in the mountain forest and set up my tent as the rain began.Howling winds through the trees kept me up giving way to a beautiful dawn. The painting continued on a number of trips to this location. It further was completed at the Pollock Krasner residency at Byrdcliffe colony.
this painting was painted during a storm on long beach island. The lightening was all round very load and dramatic.I took cover in the heather of the lighthouse park
These paintings were painted from the top of the world trade towers
from Parsons landscape class instructor fine artist Emily Elman 1982
The class would meet once a week at a different location in the city for example brooklyn bridge, the botanical gardens or van courtland park.
six paintings were painted from the trade towers on location as the sun was setting
The view was spectacular with the statue of liberty a tiny boats ,liberty island in the distance
This project was done for Margate Bike Shop in the summer. It was used for signage and for t-shirt promotions. It is in a happy and beautiful setting at the shore where cyclists enjoy a sunny afternoon riding along the boardwalk. The assignment includes a beautiful 6ft sign that welcomes visitors.
The illustration conveys a unique perspective with a panorama of a variety of bikers and bikes enjoying a morning ride at the sea. This sign made on canon printer then adapted for store shirt design using glazes and layered coatings.
Autumn framed panorama in the hallway at the Carrier Clinic. The paintings are mixed media work up 6'. The art allows for a calming effect with many layers of luminous color.
Opening and ribbon cutting at the Carrier celebrating much vision and hard work by president Don Parker!
I was honored to be asked by President Don Parker to work on this project! I was moved to tears by the expansion and open design by the architects! The new renovation of the entire facility allows maximum light in a clean and healthy environment. The site itself was also redone replacing buildings and care that dates back to the fifties and previous. The facility adorns over a fifty works of art from my Studio and canon large format printer. The art was designed to bring windows of nature and color into the space, filling long hallways and large sunlit walls. The space has moved far from the institutional look of the past. President Don Parker is a rare personality who can pull very complex building and administration skills together, quite an art in itself. He has left a legacy with this project to add to the outstanding work with AtlantiCare.
The art was photographed by Dan Myers in Somers Point. The files were rebuilt in Photoshop then printed on canvas and fine art paper. The work was infused with pastels and layered glazes. The art really is mixed media work, many are far from the print base often with many layers and finished with a museum grade coating from breathing color. I use their Lyve canvas and archival fine art paper. This technique allows color reflection and absorption much like the luminous originals, sometime they are in uniquely their own category. The art is stunning on the walls and gives dignity and provides an aesthetic care to mental health facilities and hospitals. The art also brings out the design elements as well in the building and surrounding area.
I offer this work for sale through my website and welcome this kind of work for both quality and budget!

this is a cover illustration flow of art designed for Spanish international television in NY for the World Cup soccer in Mexico. The illustrations designed the whole look of the event.i was very happy with the acrylic paintings .I played soccer as a child with the Ukrainian Nationals ,had varsity letters in soccer at Cherokee high and played in semi pro leagues. This gave me the ability to portray the sense of motion and view from the field and where the action is .The acrylic illustrations are a way of bringing in art and sport together ,by showing color fields and distilling the essence of movement and composition.
This illustration was comissioned by Time magazine for the junior achievement section .The art was inspired by contemporary work in acrylic layers .It was quite an achievement to do this amount of painting in a week deadline!the 80 'were a very prolific time for me as an artist and illustrator. The limitations and deadlines of the illustration work spurred much growth as an artist in my 15 years in New York city.Art directors took very well to my style that brought much color to a often grey polluted city in the 80's.
,
I am very happy to be commissioned 10 original new sport paintings for the university of Kentucky Hospital The paintings included horseback riding ,kayak, rock climbing ,basketball, running ,football, cycling tennis, soccer in large format in the new facility .I also created a collection over sized large basketball paintings. This work was done especially for UK to acknowledge the strong basketball team they have .I used a mixed media approach to them. The paintings are 44''by 60",there is also a 30 ft collage especially designed and printed on my printer then coated and embellished. here are unique paintings made especially for the university of Kentucky for their coveted basketball team.Below is a panorama design for the hospital wall measuring 12'
This mural was painted in Ventnor It was my first after the stainton one was painted over .A victory over negativity .Many of the people I work for are actually a blessing! The wall was made to be concave in the painting composition to make a small kitchen in a 100 year house look large expansive and grand! Layers of acrylic pastel and uv museum coating.
this room is meant to bring expanse and warmth with its 360 bowl like approach to the mural .This is a small kitchen room so calmness ,peace and safety is reflected in the dune foreground with distant sound of the sea in the horizon.
This beautiful mural is under a layer of paint at present designed originally for Staintons Ocean city.
The mural a 70ft modern painting was painted over by Staintons management before hurricane Sandy without my knowledge
In their great wisdom the owners painted over 8 months of work without telling me, They also did nothing to minimize the loss of all my artwork as well during hurricane Sandy. My only payment was to have a gallery space after doing an entire redesign of the interior and exterior of a block long building! My design work cleaned up a 30 year mess into a successful makeover! It is hard to imagine doing business with people who take advantage of the artist and art in this way .
I walked into the building for the first time after the water receded from hurricane Sandy and was shocked to see the 70ft wall blank? I was then bullied out of the building by a bouncer when asking questions about how such a terrible thing could happen .In shock I immediately took all of my wet art out of the building in freezing weather that night .Until daybreak I threw much of my seascapes and prints that were painted on location out into a dumpster on the street .I did this alone in the cold deserted town.I have never experienced such callous and inconsiderate people .The trauma and pain taught me much about being careful whom such hard work is done for. There were those who helped selflessly and those who selfishly thought of their own gain and insurance during this hurricane, So much for class .That year was probably the hardest for me. The mural was a legacy and testament to Mr, Stainton a philanthropist. It was one of my greatest creative challenges involving much sacrifice and effort.I wished it to be part of its history .My great teachers at the Parsons school of Design taught me all too well to do your best beyond any standard .Painting a mural like this is like washing a hundred cars or more .It is sad that of this outcome and to think my Titanic effort remains under a layer of latex paint!
Beautiful graphic and painting used here for my favorite restaurant I rebuilt my floral painting in photoshop then printed it on my large format cannon printer.I continued to make a number of other tent outdoor signs as well. The signs were then embellished and uv coated.
Wildflowers organic earthy fare is my first stop before i go to work in my studio at the riverfront Renaisance art center in Milleville. The food is nourishing and gives everything i need to go to work!
It all started by I played violin for a band called jug paradise (just sitting in) They asked me to join them the next day at wildflowers .......After playing and eating the chocolate pancakes i knew I was home!
In fact later I was offered a coveted studio at the riverfront art center and then never left!
I was invited into the art community and decided to paint the gallery space and make new signs for Wildflowers .I printed them using one of my paintings with the graphics and then printed it on my large format cannon,
The print is then coated and embellished much to whether the storms of life!
the kind and considerate treatment towards the art community is something other towns can learn especially Atlantic city ,where I have a gallery studio of my work.Every town needs a place like wildflowers ,
I have been eating a compassionate vegetarian diet as a vegetarian since 1985,I find it conducive to a spiritual and healthy focus.

color and design of new cafe at the arts garage in Atantic city.
design allows fore maximum color harmony and light ,to provide a warm and asthetiic space to build and layer in cafe.
my mixed media gicle art have been used extensively throughout the entire AtlantiCare life center .
twelve out patient facilities and AtlantiCare hospital floors also include collections of my prints. Many were printed on my own cannon 44"large format printer and embellished in the studio as a group,The art was specifically designed and created as a collection for each space uniquely.this is one of the first facilities to allow the usage and include art on a large scale in its design! The work creates a colorful window into nature .They work well in bringing nature in as well as the design of the building and surroundings.
I have since worked with the same CEO Don Parker at the carrier clinic in NJ.
The carrier Clinic is a mental health facility in Skillman NJ dedicated to helping with a comprehensive range of traditional and innovative therapies. The art designed for this new overhauled facility again focuses on bringing nature and a window of color and nature s inspiration on the walls of the buildings.Over a hundred gicles were printed embellished with pastels uniquely glazed and coated. There are many horizontal works as well as oversized pieces designed and printed on my cannon ipf 8300 to adorn these walls.I am very happy with the choices Don made and how they bring out the beautiful site design and buildings that maximize the amount of light cascading off the walls and art. To me it provides dignity and an aesthetic enviornment showing care by the choices of the art and the way the buildings were built. It has been one of the most fullfilllng projects to design art for due to the open spaces .the contemporary landscapes and florals create a window into nature harmony and light so much needed to bring positive qualities into living space.
I have had the honor to work with Jenn Hanson this year ,for the birth of Enlightened solutions.
The project called for the color and art design of a vacant building along with a 360 mural in a yoga and treatment room.
enlightened solutions is a space dedicated to helping addiction recovery .My concern was to focus on a CREATIVE aesthetic space using a high frequency of color that would transform the rooms and have them flow one into the other for individual usage and harmony.Light greens and Rose color and aqua green hues with complimentary colors weave through the facility like a painting! I am very happy to be part of sharing nature in a space in hopes that the design can inspire the care and attention to detail often missed in living space.Jenn Hanson herself has dedicated her mission to help mostly young adults who struggle and suffer with these strong drugs,The building also utilizes earth elements including special tile and a waterfall garden that was a closet at the entrance. yoga room
this room is meant to bring expanse and warmth with its 360 bowl like approach to the mural .This is a yoga room for recovering addicts so calmness ,peace and safety is reflected in the dune foreground with distant sound of the sea in the horizon.
My illustrations have told a good story in contrast to the challenges that are involved in establishing a career as an illustrator and fine artist in NY in the early eighties .For me it was the realization that showing movement and distilling the essence of a figure in motion was possible to convey through illustration. It was then that I developed an acrylic style for illustartion and painted extensively for the busy NY magazines ,and book publishers .Later that spirit evolved as beauty as depicted in nature .The landscape and my connection to nature also became a subject of study. My style of painting was appreciated by art directors as I worked in my Hoboken studio producing very involved illustrations for CBS,ABC,world cup soccer , and Olympics to name a few.I focused on a positive color palette and lively brushstrokes to give life to my work as it was published for a wide market. At first acrylics were used then layering watermixable oil, pastels and wax glazes. This painting style reflects a personal transformation that was a result of adopting a healthier lifestyle and becoming receptive spiritually .Being a vegetarian and meditation allowed me to see more light and color .I began to realize my Self through my work after many hours of painting devoted to both commercial illustrations and painting that was important to me spiritually. My work is reflective of the many gifts and inspirations that came into my life.I am the receiver and most appreciative to be able to convey any good message possible through my art or designs. The artist can only hope that the work can inspire ,encourage and uplift the viewer!
